After traveling to the wonderful city of Madrid, I headed for Lisbon, Portugal. I was suppose to meet a friend in Lisbon but last minute they canceled on me. So I ended up in Lisbon alone which did not make my parents very happy but its life. I spent two full days wondering around the amazing city. While I wondering around Lisbon it constantly rained. Therefore, I decided to use public transportation to get around the city to avoid walking in the rain. Lisbon's public transportation system is AMAZING! All I need was my tourist guide map to determine where to go because each bus stop provided a map of the route and each spot the bus would stop. Day 1, I walked the farthest from my hostel to Belem, Esterla, and a number of beautiful churches. Day 2, I walked to Parque Eduardo VII and to Castelo de Sao Jorge. Castelo de Sao Jorge was absolutely fantastic. It was located at the top of hill and provided a beautiful view of the city. Luckily, it stopped raining by the time I hiked to the Castelo de Sao Jorge. Earlier there was so much rain that I fell on my bum while walking down the stairs. After my adventure in Lisbon, I learned that I dislike traveling alone. There were multiple times that I wished I could enjoy these amazing views with someone. Traveling alone gave me to much time to think. At my hostel a meet a French lady who enjoys traveling alone. I say good for her because I wouldn't enjoy traveling alone again. Traveling alone definitely has perks like being able to do what you want to do and when you want to do it. Sadly the perks do not outweigh the cons. Walking around Lisbon I felt completely safe. Because I was alone I did not walk around past 9 PM. I would love to go back to Portugal and travel to the cities surrounding Lisbon. Wednesday morning I left Portugal for the High Atlas Mountains.
