Madrid and Toledo, Spain

Hello My Wonderful Friends and Family,

Spring Break has quickly come to an end...sadly I have school tomorrow. During spring break I went on three crazy adventure which I will be writing about separately:
Today-Spain
Tomorrow (Monday)-Portugal
Tuesday-Hiking in the Atlas Mountains
The first part of break, Thursday, I traveled to Madrid and Toledo, Spain with Darby (from the Morocco program). Upon arriving in Spain, we meet up at the hotel. The first thing we decided to do in Spain was Tapas. We ventured off to multiple tapas in the area. The food in Spain was amazing! I absolutely loved eating tons of ham and cheese. Friday, we walked and shopped around Madrid and proceed to eat every hour to make sure we tried all of the food in Spain. There was an amazing market in Madrid with a wide variety of food including Olives, wine, desert, cheese, ham, and other delicious foods. By the end of the day, our feet hurt from walking so we would take a nap and then go out for some more delicious tapas. Saturday, we traveled to a medieval town called Toledo. Toledo is located about an hour outside of Madrid. Once we arrived, we bought a map in the train station. After walking out of the train station and skipping past the tour buses and taxis, we hopped on a bus and traveled to the top of the hill  where the historic city center is located thinking we would avoid walking up any hills. We were mistaken. Toledo was absolutely beautiful, the city reminded me a lot of San Gimigano, Italy. Sunday we meet up with Darby's dad in the morning and walked around the second part of the city. Darby's dad thankfully brought me an extra battery for my camera, tom's for my host sister, and tons of well missed american food including a Chick-fil-A sandwich that Darby and I heated up and ate at the hotel. A little taste of home from across the sea. I was able to walk around for 4 hours with Darby and her father before leaving for the airport to catch my flight to Lisbon, Portugal.
The pictures I will post below may not have titles because Darby and I wondered around the city with little knowledge of the significance of the buildings.

Hello From Italy

Last weekend I traveled to Italy with Darby (from my Morocco Program) to visit Jessica Millman and Susanna Kroll (friends from Babson).  Jessica and Susanna are currently studying in Perugia, Italy (where the girl died). Traveling to Perugia from Morocco took almost a whole day...after taking a car to the train station, the train to the Casablanca airport, a plane to Rome, a bus from the airport to the train station, a train to Perugia, and a taxi to Susanna's school we were exhausted!!!!!!! Susanna and her roommates kindly made Darby and I dinner our first night in Italy. The next day,Thursday, Jessica showed Darby and I around Perugia. For lunch, we went to Dal me Cocco which is a restaurant with a set menu...the food was delicious   Friday we traveled to Florence and walked around in the rain...stayed the night and the next day traveled to San Gimigano. San Gimigano is a small mid-evil town an hour and half outside of Florence. My battery died again....luckily I will receive another battery for my camera next week I travel to Spain.
I loved Italy...it was interesting listening my friends experiences in Italy. Our experiences are very different because they were able to be a lot more independent in Italy compared to my experience in Morocco. So it was very hard for me to come back to Morocco because I had so much more freedom in Italy. I feel way more relaxed in Italy compared to living in Morocco.

Anyways...here are some pictures from my experience:
